Dentures

Missing teeth can affect your appearance, health, and confidence. Dr. Haitham Ennabi and his team offer various types of dentures at their Hopewell Junction, NY, and Pawling, NY, offices. If you are missing all of your teeth, a full denture will be appropriate. However, if you are missing several teeth, you may be better suited to a partial denture. Additionally, we also offer advanced implant-supported restorations. These dentures will provide unrivaled stability, and can also protect the health of your jawbone.

What Type of Dentures Are Right for You?

Once we have evaluated your needs, your dentist will explain each of the denture options in detail:

  • Full traditional denture: This removable restoration will replace your entire dental arch so it may be recommended if you are missing all or most of your teeth. A full traditional denture will have a plastic base that will fit around your gums. The base will closely match the color of your soft tissues.
  • Partial traditional denture: Also removable, this type of restoration will replace a number of adjacent missing teeth. A partial denture will also have a gum-colored plastic base, and it will have small metal clips that will connect to your nearby teeth for support.
  • Full implant-supported denture: A full implant-supported denturewill be secured by four or more permanent dental implants placed in the jaw. To receive this type of dental prosthetic, you must have generally good physical health and a strong jawbone.
  • Partial implant-supported denture: A partial implant-supported denture will typically require two or more posts for support. Your dentist will examine your jaw to determine your candidacy for this type of denture, as well.
Our team will work with great care to ensure that your restoration is virtually identical to your natural teeth. If you choose traditional dentures, your dentist will begin by taking impressions of your gums. Technicians at our partner lab will use these molds to design your denture. They will also examine photos of your smile, choosing materials that match the color of your teeth and gums. When your restoration is finished, you will come back into the office for a fitting. Your dentist will make sure that the restoration fits snuggly in your mouth and that you still have proper bite alignment.

Our team will work with great care to ensure that your restoration is virtually identical to your natural teeth.

If you decide on an implant-supported denture, a trusted oral surgeon we work with will place four or more implants in your jaw. You will be provided with a temporary denture at this time. While your bone is healing and fusing with the posts, our lab will create your denture, using the same meticulous techniques. When the technicians are finished, your dentist will check the fit and attach your permanent denture.

The Benefits of Dentures

All of our dentures can have important benefits for your appearance and dental function. Your denture will restore your smile, and it will maintain a youthful facial structure. It will also allow you to speak properly and enable you to eat a much wider range of foods. When you choose an implant-supported denture, your restoration will have added benefits. Firmly anchored in your jaw, the restoration will never slip out of place, and you will not have any limitations on your diet. Even more importantly, the implants will also prevent recession of the jawbone, which occurs after tooth loss.
